The game went from completely depressing to absolute excitement in a matter of minutes and that is solely because of the exciting play of Michael Vick and the sometimes awesome defense. When Vick went in I honestly wasn't expecting much but he moved the offense with his legs and arm in a way Kolb never could. I still put my support behind Kolb, but this performance, in his first game as the teams full fledged starter, was horrible. There really isn't anything positive to draw from it. I've tried. At least we have Detroit this upcoming Sunday, who look like a much improved team, but we still should be able to move the ball and make defensive stops. If Kolb's offensive problems continue for a few more weeks you know the fan-base will be screaming for Vick to take over and I will probably be one of them. I mean Vick looked great in there. Some of this can be chalked up to the Packers not being prepared for Vick as the full time quarterback in the second half, but the "I have no idea what he is gonna do?!" factor which comes with Vick on every snap is very appealing. He wasn't perfect however. He should have just ran it in, instead of throwing it that one time we were in the red zone, and that last play call on fourth down didn't use Vick's running strengths. Some of his throws were a little off target and our receivers always seemed to be on the ground when they caught it. However, all this being said, Vick simply impressed me.
I also agree with Kyle about the classic uniforms and the old logo on the field. It was really nice looking and I want some of that gear.
Katie- Good luck in VA, congratulations on an exciting win by the Steelers!
Eagles!
yea yea i liked michael. the first time i saw him really was when i saw the end of a really nice run and didn't know who number 7 was. and then i was all like yo boom baby. vibin left and right. even with people in the store. EAGLES. kevin was a little depressing. not sure what to think. that replay of leonard's leg getting all F'ed was disgusting.
ReplyDeleteThat hit looked like it ended his season. Jackson on the offensive line may be out as well.
ReplyDeleteThose injuries are going to hurt us for the rest of the season, but we've got some time to build up into those spots. On Vick, I think he did do very well considering he hadn't played in that roll in a long time. Physically he was totally there, running and passing were on, and with some time with the key receivers in practice he will have that down pat. The thing that worries me, and I'm sure Andy as well, is Vick's decision making on the field, he doesn't seem to be able to make good, quick decisions to make plays, and thats what you need in a winning QB. Granted, Vick can get away with some slower decisions because of his legs and scrambling ability, but once we face a D that is ready to stop him, I think he won't cut it. Vick isn't right for this offense, he couldn't get the ball to our key offensive weapons, thats what I think Kolb is here to do, make smart decisions and get the ball to our weapons. As for Kolb, I don't think we saw enough of him to make any judgements. I agree he did piss poor while he was out there, but he was on the field for only a few drives. I expected a shaky start out of Kolb, with him settling in late in the first half turning some big plays to boost confidence. We'll have to see how things shake out, but I have to think Andy is going to Kolb as long as he is healthy.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're right about Kolb. The scouting description makes him sound perfect for the Eagles, but unfortunately the Packers just put out the blueprint for how to rattle Kolb and throw him off. I do think that Vick could get better passing wise if he could get settled within the position. I didn't like the fact that Kolb alternated with Vick in the first half either. It didn't help Kolb nor Vick that much. Who ever is QB should stay QB.
ReplyDeleteI am not anti-Kolb, I was just disappointed. I still want him as the starter yet I don't have as much confidence in him as i would like to.
